We first opened as La Cafetiere, a small but bustling family
run coffee shop, in the busy Bruntsfield shopping area in
1984.
Following expansion in 1997 and a change of name to Café
Grande, we now regard ourself as a Café/Bar/Restaurant
open all hours and suiting all walks of life. Flexibility
is valued here, whether it's a quick cappuccino, glass of
wine or hearty breakfast you need, you'll find our friendly
staff and cosy atmosphere very welcoming, especially over
the summer period when, weather permitting, sitting outside
is an added bonus.
However, you'll
be pleasantly suprised by the transformation at night. With
candle lit tables, Café Grande becomes a simple but
very pleasant Bistro. Our small dinner menu uses local produce
and fresh ingredients and changes every four to six weeks,
with blackboard specials changing daily. Dishes are available
as small or large portions and our children's menu is also
available in the evening.
Bruntsfield is a vibrant area with
bespoke shops, cafes and bars, the Kings and Churchill Theatres
and Dominion Cinema nearby and close to Princes Street and
the city centre. We value our local suppliers and also local
artists and performers for the artwork on display and the
regular Sunday evening jazz nights.
