Café Grande is very
much at home in Bruntsfield, adding to the already very cosy
and village-like atmosphere. On entering, you are struck by
the art that covers the walls in this colourful eatery from
local artists.
Due to the very continental feel of the menu, we opted for
Cuvee Georges DuBoeuf red wine, £11.20. The majority
of the dishes available here can be selected in small or large
sizes. As we sipped and chatted, I ate a Chargrilled Mediterranean
Vegetable and Polenta Stack, topped with Goats Cheese and
drizzled with Rocket Pesto and Red Pepper Sabayon (£5.80,
small) while my friend had the Crispy Black Pudding and Bacon
(£3.90, small).
Our main courses consisted of the melt in the mouth Blackened
Scottish Salmon Fillet with Cumin Roast Potatoes (£11.80)
and the North African Spiced Lamb Burgers with Mixed Leaves
(£8.20).
The sweet things had caught my eye and I could not resist
the Key Lime Pie.
Visit on a Sunday for the well priced meal for two at £13.50
per person including a glass of wine.
